Celebration (Part 1)

Happy Birthday Charles and Happy Birthday Thomas!

It’s Capricorn season and today we celebrate my father’s and my brother in law’s birthday. Even though we are dealing with the loss of a loved one, we have to keep moving forward and celebrating those who are still with us today because that is what our loved ones in heaven will want. And as we heal, they will eventually want us to celebrate them and the memories we created with them.

Life is to be celebrated and we need to do our best to enjoy every single moment. We have ups and downs, things go sideways, and sometimes there’s a reverse Uno card and a wild card, and we are left flabbergasted. There is nothing wrong when there’s no positivity to be seen in a situation, its temporary. Life is unpredictable and the only thing that is certain is death. This blog is not meant to be dark, but the truth has to be told and I have to admit that I’m a deep thinker.

It’s 12 in the morning, Gigi is watching me type, I hear people chatting outside, and if you look out the window; lights are on in the streets and apartments. Back home in Tennessee, our home is surrounded by darkness and we barely turn our porch lights on (have to save money on the electric bills). I feel peace even though I’m in a city that never sleeps, and this peace is due to being surrounded by family. My peace in Tennessee is from nature, being in a less populated area, and being able to live my life in a way I always dreamed about.

Today I will try to catch up on rest because I have been struggling with my sleep. School just started and I have to make sure I get my tasks completed. I clearly want an A for all of my classes and I have to work on my health since I’ve neglected it since I came to NYC. I’m human and I make mistakes from time to time, but I pick myself up and I keep moving forward. Don’t beat yourself up, be accountable and keep pushing.

It’s 2023 and it’s time to use the reverse Uno card in your favor. It’s still the beginning of the year and we have time to turn things around. And I want everyone to remember that God wouldn’t put us in a situation we couldn’t handle. We are all strong, we are loved, and we can accomplish anything we set our minds on.

There’s a lot happening today and can’t wait to share the pictures with you all in part 2. Thank you for reading and may God continue to bless you and your families.
