It’s Okay To Hold Off
Being a stay at home mom is not an easy task as many believe (everyone’s story is different). There are so many things that need to be done around the house and what makes matter worse is that there’s not a lot of storage space. I have to work with the current space and it’s been a bit hard to start baking again. Hopefully, we can save enough money to do some of the renovations in the house so that we can enjoy it and eventually rent it out.
I was thinking about making some apple pies that look like the ones from McDonald’s. I know many of us remember the smell and taste, and it was delicious. But, I think anything homemade is better than buying it from outside as long as we are aware of the ingredients we choose to buy. I’ve been overly obsessed with reading labels and making sure that the items I buy don’t have ingredients that I don’t know about or can’t pronounce. We are living in a time where we need to take care of our health and we need to see what the new administration plans to do. Regardless of their plans, buy from your local farmers and learn to grow your own food.
I haven’t set up a garden or a greenhouse at our new home because we can’t even afford a fence and yes, I have seen possums and raccoons in the area. Back in Tennessee, they would eat our crops and we have lost a ton of chickens. We have thought about getting chickens again, but we really need to get the property fenced in for that, and so our daughter and dog Coco don’t run to other people’s yards. We have a backyard neighbor with a lake and I wouldn’t want anything bad happening to our daughter (she loves opening the door and we had installed multiple locks on the door and cameras around the house). As parents, we need to do what’s best to protect our children and animals.
Since I have a lot to do to get the house in order, I decided that I will put school on hold for now. My husband is doing volunteer firefighter training for about a year (but we are waiting to hear if he gets the call that he’s going to be a firefighter for the city), and since his schedule is hectic with his primary job (Health Insurance Broker), there’s just so much I can do at this time. I’m taking the time to just focus on my health as well and will begin homeschooling our daughter (she’s 2). I have taught her stuff but its not consistent and so I need to set up a schedule/routine that works for us. I’m happy she can sing her ABC’S and count to ten in English and Spanish, she knows her animals, some objects, her body parts, and she’s learning to form sentences. I think I’m doing a good job, but I know I can do more.
I hope you enjoyed reading what was going on in my mind, there’s just so much I can say at this time. I wish I had at least $60,000 to renovate my house, but I don’t. Anyways, have a wonderful and blessed day.
