HAPPY NEW YEAR!

2023 is here and we have to start the year right. If you didn’t read my previous blog “Knock, knock ‘23”, go read it and then come back to this blog. As we transition to create new habits and work on being disciplined, we will have successful moments and some where we feel like we “failed”, but the motto is to continue to move forward and pick up where we left off. Lets say that you have to ride the stationary bike for 10 minutes today (January 1st) and missed the workout session. And now its the following day (January 2nd) and you decide to work out; instead of riding the stationary bike for 10 minutes, now you have to ride it for 20 minutes.

Stay consistent because it takes about 2 months to create a new habit. Oh, I know some of you asked yourself “Denisha, why are you talking about working out?” In order to indulge in sweets and all of the food we love, we have to take care of our health. Working out and eating better is what allows us to continue to indulge in the things we love (and of course, we cannot eat it all the time). I’ll add delicious treats to the site but I also have to add healthier alternatives for the people who want to or are already eating clean. The dessert and snack options will have great ingredients and I’ll even add smoothies (we love a good smoothie in the morning).

I’m also working on some new cookies to add to my menu and eventually I’ll work on some protein cookies. But so I don’t get off topic, this blog is strictly about discipline and we just have to get things done whether we like it or not. Making lifestyle changes are hard, but this is why we do it a day at a time like the stationary bike example that I wrote earlier and that example is about me. I’m holding myself accountable with the blogs and my health, and I know others struggle with this too. So in a way, you can also hold yourself accountable with whatever goals you have. As I continue to write my blogs while being consistent with my goals and you continue to be consistent with your goals, you will begin to see that you and I are experiencing the same changes and challenges regardless of the different goals we have. We will fumble, we will say “I don’t want to” and still continue to do it, we will feel better, and we will begin to feel and see that we are thinking clearer and that we are getting things done (whatever tasks we have).

When you want something bad enough, you will work hard and not create excuses. We have to get out of our comfort zones and begin to change, be part of a new and healthier environment and surround ourselves with positive and like-minded people.

People will watch you without you knowing and as they see you achieve your goals, they will want to get close to you and get a piece of the pie you created for yourself. Self awareness is important because you don’t know anyone’s intentions and when it comes to growth, a lot of things happen at once and lessons you didn’t learn from the past will reappear or new lessons will come about and these are viewed as tests. To level up your life, you have to be ready and you can’t get distracted. For instance, I wasn’t going to work on my business today since its a new year day and its Sunday. But its January 1st, 2023 and this day will not repeat itself. Time is not on our side and we have to stay consistent to succeed. Don’t put your responsibilities and tasks on the back burner, get it done.

We have to try to be ready for everything that comes our way and it seems like opportunities show up when we are unprepared. If the opportunity comes, take a swing at it. But always try your best to be prepared for anything that comes your way.

As the day comes to an end, remember to make the best out of each day. We will have ups and downs, but try to find and see the positive.

I will end the blog here because its getting late and I want to dedicate time to my accounting books. I want to be prepared for when the semester begins. And as you can see, I want to be prepared as much as I can.

“If somebody offers you an amazing opportunity but you are not sure you can do it, say yes – then learn how to do it later.”
