Where Did I go?

Ladies and gentleman, I’ve been gone for about a year. There are so many things that have happened in such a short time and I will begin with letting you guys know that I’m now a college graduate (B.S Accounting with a 3.68 GPA). And I’m no longer in Tennessee and now living in North Carolina. We literally moved the same day that we finished closing on our home and it was pure chaos (we were in a real estate chain and then the moving process was such a headache). I’m blessed to have gotten help from a battle buddy (Nathieanel Patterson and he owns YellowjacketMoving). He helped us finish clearing out the house and packing the truck and we even flew my brother out the day prior to help us with the drive to NC, but he had also helped with packing the truck so we could leave sooner.

We had a trailer for the extra car we own and we parked it on the grass on the side of the house. It started to rain and my husband decided to get in the truck and attempt to move the trailer before it gets stuck in the mud, but the breaks broke and it was impossible to move it from the dirt. We called Penske to resolve the issue (thank God they had someone come out and take the trailer). But once we were done loading the truck, we had to drive to Kentucky to pick up the new trailer. My husband drove the truck, my brother drove my husband’s car, and I drove my car behind them (at the time, my husband’s car was uninsured and not registered). We managed to get to Kentucky in about 50 mins, we secured the vehicle on the trailer and we were on our way to NC. It was about an 8 hour drive and those 8 hours were not fun. We had the cats in the back of my car with our dog Coco (they stank), Gigi was being a handful, and we were just exhausted. We all agreed that things happen for a reason and we need to be thankful that we are alive and well).

We managed to get an Airbnb in Charlotte (The Zen Retreat) and I loved it since it had so many books about everything and anything culinary. The place was private, had a hot tub, firepit, beautiful and clean rooms. Book it if you’re going to be in the Charlotte area (no one is paying me to say this). We only stayed there for a day and my brother had a flight the same day (he missed the early one and so we booked him a flight in the nighttime). The story sounds like it’s going to get better? Nope. Let me skip to the part where we went to see the house we bought. The seller was in the house and asking questions like “Why did you decide to move to NC?”, so we asked “Why are you selling the house?” Anyways, we decided to move forward with the home and we went to the office to close on it and the seller was being a weirdo when she saw us. They signed the papers first and then we went ahead to sign our paperwork. After we signed, we told our realtor that we will go near the house and wait to hear if we can move in. Plus, we had our truck parked at the church (we asked the pastor permission). We pulled up to see the house (not on the driveway, just the road) and the seller’s were following us. We got news that we couldn’t move into the house until title was cleared so we stood over a family friend’s home for the night and my brother got on a flight back to MD. When the title cleared, we went to the house and guess what? They had removed the battery out of the door knob so we couldn’t get in or anything. Their realtor still had the keys to the house and garage remote.

The pastor at the church visited us out of the blue and got us food and he had people from Ground 40 assist us with unloading the truck. We are thankful to have gotten the assistance and will be paying it forward (including the people in West NC who have lost everything). Lets take a moment and honor those who have lost their lives and offer prayers for those in need.
